What's New
June 2008-
Traquair Herbals are new from Historic British Needlepoint. These gorgeous canvases are reproduced from Elizabethan era canvas work at Traquair House in Scotland. Like the Traquair Woodblocks and Florals, the Herbals were worked as "slips", which were designed to be cut out and applied to another ground fabric. The originals are worked in tent stitch, and as they have never been used they are in excellent condition considering their age. For a beautiful, hisorical look we recommend working the motifs in Trebizond filament silk or Appletons crewel wool, and leaving the background un-stitched. (Please contact us for help with thread kits.) There are six Traquair Herbals available on our website, one of which is pictured below. To view the other choices click on these links: Acorns, Columbine, Hazelnut, Mallow and Vine.
